We value meeting the needs of our community.
Since we love the people of Santa Cruz, Faith Community Church reaches out to help and encourage the poor, the overlooked, and the oppressed of our city.

Graffiti Cleanup 2009 (Aug 17, 2009)
At Faith Community Church we seek to understand and meet the needs of humankind around the world.
We believe humankind's greatest need is the spiritual need to be reconciled to God, but we also believe Jesus has asked His followers to be ministers of peace and justice to the poorest and most oppressed people in our world.
Learn more about Jonathan and Karen Finley, our missionaries to France, and Randy and Rose Finkbeiner, our missionaries in South Africa.
Jonathan's primary ministry role is as founder and director of OIKOS. The word OIKOS means household or family (see Ephesians 2:19). OIKOS is an intercultural community of Jesus-followers who share life and work together in order to be shaped for God's mission in the Paris region and beyond. It's a training community that facilitates hands-on, church-based formation for "World-Christian" workers. The OIKOS house, where most members live, is within 30 minutes of the 17 churches that WorldVenture and its partners have established there.
Jonathan gives overall leadership to the OIKOS project, recruits new interns, cultivates partnerships with various churches and Bible schools and facilitates local church internships and evangelism/service projects. As well as developing leaders for intercultural ministry, OIKOS aims to cultivate transcontinental mission initiatives and friendships that energize a dynamic of mission from everywhere to everywhere.
Randy and Rose Finkbeiner are Faith Community Church's first missionaries! This incredible couple has committed to walking together with those who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.
Below is a quick letter from Randy and Rose introducing themselves and their ministry:
"We have been working in South Africa with a community development project since January of 2005. Rose is developing a program whereby families in desperate circumstances can be sponsored until they are able to find other sources of income. She also leads several support groups for those caregivers of orphans. I am working in the area of home based care as it specifically relates to caring for those infected with HIV. We are also caretakers of a farm where volunteers come to stay. We are doing this work with Mukhanyo Community Development Center ("MCDC"). MCDC is a small project that began in 2003 alongside a local Bible College."
Randy has described their part of the world as:
"-diverse -uneven -energy -grace -sky -smoke -laughter -dust -dancing -tension -taxies -shacks -funerals -weddings -clinics -color -aloes -soccer -community -pressure -laughter -endurance
I'm tired of hearing 'South Africa' in the same sentence with 'hopeless' so I tried some new words."
